Police said the 15-year-old admitted to being the one responsible and was charged as a juvenile with threats of mass violence. The 15-year-old was released to their parents. The case was forwarded to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services for review, police said.

Police did not release additional information about the 15-year-old or motivation for the false threats.

More bomb threats - and more all-clears - at two Montgomery schools

Over the past few weeks, several Montgomery County high schools have been plagued by false bomb threats that have disrupted classes and led to temporary evacuations while police searched the schools. On Monday, Rockville High School in Rockville and Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring were both cleared and searched by police until students and faculty were allowed to reenter.

“Making false bomb threats to schools is entirely improper as it instills fear, anxiety, and disrupts incredibly important time that students and teachers have together to advance their learning,” Christopher Cram, a schools spokesman, previously said in an email.

In all instances, no explosive devices were found during on school grounds and police inform the schools that the threats had been “determined not valid.”

Previously, police identified a 12-year-old who had emailed bomb threats targeting Montgomery Blair High School five times from Oct. 13 to Oct. 24, authorities said. Police also said the 12-year-old admitted to sending emailed bomb threats that targeted Oak View Elementary School and Silver Spring International Middle School.

“This reckless and dangerous behavior” caused “fear and chaos,” Montgomery Police Chief Marcus Jones said in a statement Wednesday.
