       KUWAIT CITY, June 30: From the remarkable success of the offline (paper) examination of high school students up to the safe reopening of schools, the Ministry of Education has taken all the necessary steps to fully prepare the 2021/2022 school year, reports Al-Rai daily. The ministry has confirmed the opening of several new schools in some educational areas early next year, taking into consideration the growth of the population and the expected increase in the number of students in view of the upcoming resumption of traditional classes. Undersecretary of the ministry Dr Ali Al-Yaqoub formed a working team tasked to take the necessary measures to fulfill the requirements for a safe and healthy resumption of traditional classes this summer; which is the busiest summer ever for the ministry’s sectors, educational areas and engineering affairs departments.

       A reliable source said the pieces of new school furniture are now available at the Supplies and Stores Department, affirming the furnishing of schools will start soon. The source added the ministry has submitted its final account for fiscal 2020/2021 to its finance counterpart; while its financial sector is waiting for the approval of the new budget in order to start the floating of tenders and other suspended activities, in addition to determining the allocations for the sectors to begin preparations for the next academic year. The source pointed out there is no obstacle to the preparations, but everything depends on the budget. He said the printing presses have been instructed to print the first batch of books for the new academic year; while the engineering affairs departments will carry out maintenance works in schools, especially those that have not been used since March 2019.
