Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been branded "terrible" influences by royal expert Angela Levin, following the announcement that the couple would be recieving an award for only having two children. The environmental charity Population Matters chose the couple for their role as environmental 'role models'.

Angela Levin told talkRadio, "They've made an announcement in the papers that the pair are amazing world influencers, which I think is terrible becasue you don't really want to influence people to be horrible to their fathers."

"This particular survey they did claims that three in ten people between the ages of 18 and 24 have been influenced by Harry and Meghan, that they won't have more than two children."

However, with just a little bit of digging, I found that this survey came out in 2017 so it's got absolutely nothing to do with Harry and Meghan."

As winners of the award, Prince Harry and Meghan have been given £500 to donate to a charity of their choice.

In a statement, the UK-based charity said "In choosing and publicly declaring their intention to limit their family to two, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are helping to ensure a better future for their children and providing a role model for other families.”

"We commend the Duke and Duchess for taking this enlightened decision, and for affirming that a smaller family is also a happy family.”

Population Matters campaigns for a sustainable human population and environmental conservation.

Prince Harry has spoken about climate change on a number of occasions and described it as one of the two "most pressing issues" facing the world today.

During a 2019 interview with Vogue, he spoke about maintaining a healthy planet for children, saying "As intelligent as we all are, or as evolved as we all are supposed to be, we should be able to leave something better behind for the next generation."

This award follows the news that the couple's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey has been nominated for an Emmy award.

During the interview, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that they were expecting a baby daughter this summer.

They welcomed their second child, Lilibet "Lili" Diana, on June 4 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

The couple were already parents to two-year-old Archie Harrison, who was born in May 2019.

Harry and Meghan had previously said they would have "maximum" two children and that Lilibet would be their last.

The Duchess revealed in a piece for the New York Times that she had suffered a miscarriage last July, in an effort to draw attention to how common miscarriage is amongst pregnant women.

The couple currently reside in Montecito, California with their two young children and dogs.
