IPOH (Bernama): Perak saw a drop in the number of flood evacuees as at 8am on Thursday (Aug 26) to 193 people from 50 families compared to 241 from 66 families yesterday.

       A Perak Disaster Management Committee spokesman said the number of evacuees in Larut Matang and Selama districts dropped to 22 from seven families compared to 70 from 23 families, all housed at a relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Matang.

       "The number of flood victims at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Changkat Lobak in the Kerian district remains at 111 people from 26 families. Those housed at SK Alor Pongsu also remain at 60 from 17 families," he said in a statement.

       Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department in its official website informed that thunderstorms were expected in one or two places on Wednesday afternoon.
