KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway’s public-listed companies -- Sunway Bhd , Sunway REIT and Sunway Construction Group Bhd (SunCon) -- have recently bagged a total of six international awards, underscoring the group’s commitment to best practices in corporate governance and corporate reporting.

       The three companies took home an award each at the Minority Shareholders Watch Group MSWG-ASEAN Corporate Governance Awards 2020, as well as at the 35th Annual Reports Competition (ARC) International Awards.

       Sunway Group president Tan Sri Chew Chee Kin said the group is pleased that its stakeholders appreciate the positive actions the conglomerate has taken to ensure good corporate governance practices and corporate reporting.

       "We will continue to create long-term value for all our stakeholders, with the group’s responsibility and commitment to the best environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” he said in a statement today.

       Sunway Bhd has been recognised at the MSWG-ASEAN awards for three consecutive years since 2018, while SunCon has been recognised for five consecutive years since 2016.

       The MSWG-ASEAN Awards recognises corporate governance best practices by Malaysian listed companies according to the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard.

       Meanwhile, the ARC International Awards is one of the world’s largest competitions organised by New York-based MerComm Inc.

       Sunway’s wins places the brand alongside global brands such as Walmart Inc. (United States), Coca-Cola Company and LOTTE Fine Chemical (South Korea).

       Sunway is the only Malaysian conglomerate recognised at the awards, which evaluated close to 500 entries from 17 countries. - Bernama
