On Thursday night, two major cities were on the verge of full Taliban takeover as the insurgency seized control of the country rapidly. US officials fear that the country's government will collapse within 30 days.

Speaking on Newsnight, Mariam Wardak, Her Afghanistan founder, commented on the situation in the country.

“I think all of the Afghan people feel let down by their international allies,” she said.

“Not only the United States and the United Kingdom but all our NATO allies.”

Her Afghanistan offers support for Afghan women in various fields, such as security, peace, foreign policy and tech.

Antony Blinken, US State Department Secretary of State, told the Afghan President, Ashraf Ghani, the States "remains invested in the security and stability of Afghanistan".

The Taliban has now advanced in Kandahar and Herat - a cultural and economic hub.

As it stands, only four major cities remain under governmental control but two are under siege.

Following news the insurgency claimed control over Kandahar and Herat, the US and UK are set to send thousands of troops to safely evacuate embassies, according to Reuters.

“The fact that President Biden felt that this was the right time not to build a nation when this is what the whole invasion was in the first place - to build a democratic nation,” Ms Wardak said.
