PUTRAJAYA: Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) president Mohd Izzat Afifi Abd Hamid has been appointed as a member of the Consultative Council on Foreign Policy.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement on Thursday (April 21) the appointment was made taking into account Mohd Izzat's experience that could contribute to a pragmatic, resilient foreign policy-making process able to face current challenges while representing the voice of youths.
The foreign policy council met for the first time this year on Wednesday (April 20) to discuss and fine-tune issues of direct interest to Malaysia and the Foreign Ministry.
Among these were the Ukraine-Russia conflict, proposals to increase the effectiveness of humanitarian aid, initiatives to highlight language and cultural diplomacy, and food security issues.
Ministry Deputy Secretary-General (Bilateral Affairs) Datuk Amran Mohamed Zin and Deputy Secretary-General (Multilateral Affairs) Datuk Cheong Loon Lai also participated as ad hoc members. – Bernama
