IPOH: The Molotov cocktail that was thrown into the porch of Beruas MP Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham's home in Ayer Tawar contained petrol, says Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

The Perak police chief said the Fire and Rescue Department confirmed their findings to the police on Thursday (Jan 18).

"The Fire and Rescue Department has made an initial confirmation that the flammable substance used was petrol. An official report will be sent to the police in the shortest possible time," he said in a statement on Sunday (Jan 21).

At about 2.55am on Jan 10, three cars parked in Ngeh's house were damaged after a Molotov cocktail was thrown into the compound.

The police arrested one suspect in his 30s two days later and he was released on police bail on Jan 17.

Comm Mohd Yusri said the police have recorded the statements of 11 people so far.

He said the investigation under Section 435 of the Penal Code was still ongoing.
