KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal (pic) is sticking with his statement that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had told him that he had the support of 119 MPs.
Amid Muhyiddin's denial, Shafie said that the former premier told him over the phone that he had the support in Parliament.
Shafie said that Muhyiddin told him that he had discussed with PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke to form the government.
"My understanding (from the phone conversation), what does it mean when you say you want to form the government. He is a former prime minister. If he wants to deny, then it is up to him," Shafie told reporters at a press conference here Tuesday (June 7).
On Sunday (June 5), Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president Muhyiddin denied a claim that he had asked Shafie to join him to form a new government as he (Muhyiddin) had the support of 119 MPs in the current 220 member house.
Shafie, who made the claim about Muhyiddin's call during a meet the people session in Libaran last week, said that he did not want to join the group planning to take over the news government.
