KUALA LUMPUR: The Office of the Chief Registrar of the Federal Court of Malaysia has denied allegations that Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat expedited the ongoing court cases against Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Referring to a post on Shahir Samad-Tok Uban's Facebook page on April 20, the Office said a police report had been lodged.

"The post allegedly accused the Chief Justice of agreeing to help expedite the cases and sentence Najib and Ahmad Zahid.

"The police report was lodged to deny allegations of conspiracy, collusion or illegal alliance between political leaders and the Chief Justice," it said in a statement on Thursday (April 21).

It added that the Chief Justice has never communicated with or been contacted by any political leader in connection with the court cases involving Najib and Ahmad Zahid.

"Pending cases in court shall proceed in accordance with the law without any intervention by the Chief Justice or any other person.

"The Office claimed that those responsible for making and spreading such allegations intended to tarnish the image of the court and cause the public to lose faith in the judiciary," it said.

It added that these allegations were intended to subvert the administration of justice in terms of the pending trial of cases against Najib and Ahmad Zahid.
