KLANG: Concerned that two of his closest aides had tested positive for Covid-19, Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad (pic) underwent the RTK-Antigen test on Wednesday morning and his result was positive.
“I was not really convinced with the test result as I felt fine and did not feel there was something wrong with me.
“So I underwent the PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test a few hours later and it turned out to be negative today (yesterday),’’ said Khalid.
Given the PCR test is deemed more conclusive than the RTK test, Khalid said he would regard himself as being Covid-19 negative.
Of his two aides who tested positive, he said there were clear indications they were not infected at the same time.
“They tested positive five days apart and hence they could not have been infected by the same source,” said Khalid.
Khalid, who is also Parti Amanah Negara communications director, was under self-quarantine from early this month after his first aide tested positive.
On allegations he had removed his mask in a recent demonstration in which Opposition MPs participated, Khalid said he had removed it only momentarily.
“It was hot and I was sweating. My shirt and my mask were wet, and I removed the mask for a while as I was feeling very uncomfortable,” he said.
Khalid added that he put his face mask back up after a few minutes.
