The 25-year-old was held after police swooped on a home in East London.

She was quizzed on suspicion of assisting an offender but has since been released on bail until late April.

Her arrest is the second over Khalife's alleged escape after a 24-year-old man was detained last month.

Police confirmed neither he or the female suspect are members of staff at HMP Wandsworth.

Detective Chief Superintendent Gareth Rees, Head of Operations for the Met's Counter Terrorism Command, which is leading the investigation, said: "We continue to carry out a thorough investigation into the full circumstances of the alleged escape of Khalife, and we have now arrested two other people as part of this."

Khalife, 21, allegedly fled the South London jail under a food delivery truck in September.

A court was previously told he strapped himself to the underside of the vehicle using a material "which may have been from bedsheets".

He is accused of leading cops on a four-day manhunt before he was arrested on a canal towpath in Northolt, West London - 12 miles away from the prison.

Khalife had a sleeping bag, change of clothes, bottle of water and a Waitrose cool bag which appeared to contain food.

The former solder was being held in Wandsworth while awaiting trial in November for alleged terrorism offences.

Khalife, who was attached to the Royal Signal Corps before being discharged, is accused of leaving fake bombs at an RAF base.

He has pleaded not guilty to all counts and is now awaiting trial.

Another charge, under the Official Secrets Act, alleges Khalife collected personal information about soldiers from an MoD computer system that could be useful to an enemy.
