MELAKA: Former Melaka governor Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob has praised the coalition's Lendu candidate Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali, claims Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Khadir.
In a Facebook post on Friday (Nov 19), the Barisan secretary-general said that Mohd Khalil was in Lendu, where the former Melaka chief minister Sulaiman Md Ali was contesting.
"The situation is full of happy faces as Mohd Khalil was the former Umno secretary-general.
"I saw it with my own eyes," said Zambry.
"Mohd Khalil also praised Sulaiman's personality as someone who is humble and close to the rakyat. In fact, Tun (Khalil) said within a short period of time, Sulaiman managed to show his leadership qualities," he said.
Zambry also said Pakatan Harapan was using Mohd Khalil to drum up support for them on the last day of campaigning ahead of polling day on Saturday (Nov 20), one of the two tactics the coalition was employing.
The other issue, he said, was criticising the land award to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
"It is being used as the final attack points before the people of Melaka cast their votes tomorrow," he said.
However, he noted that Najib had withdrawn his request for the land award.
Zambry said he hoped these two incidents would assure the people of Melaka and allow them to make the best choice for the stability and prosperity of the state.
Earlier, Pakatan's Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim claimed that the former governor was supporting their candidates in the Melaka polls.
