JOHOR BARU: The state government administration could experience an overhaul if there is a change at Federal level, says Johor Pakatan Harapan chief Aminolhuda Hassan.

"We would see first what happens at the Federal level. Support for the state government could likely see a shift as well," said Aminolhuda when met outside of the Johor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office on Sunday (Aug 15).

He also urged all parties at both state and Federal level to adhere to the rule of law and the Federal Constitution should these changes come about.

The Star reported that Muhyiddin Yassin would appear before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Monday (Aug 16), with indications pointing towards a decision to step down from his post.

Cabinet sources said the Prime Minister had informed Perikatan Nasional government leaders and officials of his intention at a meeting here on Saturday (Aug 14) afternoon.

On Thursday (Aug 12), Johor's Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar warned that he would not hesitate to dissolve the state assembly if assemblymen continued to engage in power struggles.

"We do not need politicians to represent the people if all they think about is themselves and not the interests and welfare of the rakyat," said Sultan Ibrahim during the opening of the 14th Johor state assembly at the Sultan Ismail Building in Kota Iskandar, Iskandar Puteri on Thursday.

Johor Perikatan currently holds the state with a narrow majority, with 29 seats against Pakatan Harapan's 27.

Currently, the state government consists of Umno (14), MIC (two), PAS (one) and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (12) while the Opposition consists of DAP (14), Amanah (six) and PKR (seven).
