SUBANG JAYA: The police acted as soon as the first report regarding Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin disappearance was lodged, says Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan

He refuted claims that the police had been slow to act, saying that the investigation began on the first police report when it was lodged.

"The media coverage of the police investigation then was extensive from day one. So those allegations that we acted slowly, I feel the public can clearly see that this is incorrect.

We have done our level best in this case and it is still an open case that we are investigating," he said.

On allegations that the police had missed tracing "IP addresses" that were flagged, Comm Hussein said that all angles were covered.

"This includes the technical aspects. The data has been viewed but it has not proven helpful to the investigation," he said.

The autistic six-year-old Zayn Rayyan was reported missing on Dec 5 in Damansara Damai.

His body was found in a stream about 200m from his residence at Idaman Apartment the next day.

Police then confirmed that a murder investigation had been opened following a post mortem on the body.
