Thames Valley Police confirmed they had rushed to the home in Hundred Acres Close, Headington at around 6.25am this morning.

A woman was taken to hospital, but tragically died.

It means five people have now been killed in three house fires over three days.

On Friday, three people died in a house fire in Croydon, with another blaze killing a man yesterday.

After the latest tragedy, one witness, Shanice, 27, told The Oxford Mail she didn’t know the woman who died but that she was “always smiling and saying hello”.

She added: “It’s just so shocking."

Four fire engines had rushed to the home to tackle the blaze.

The victim's next of kin have now been informed.
