LANGKAWI: A total of thirteen Form Four students from a secondary school here were arrested over their suspected involvement in assaulting their classmate.
Langkawi OCPD Asst Comm Shariman Ashari said 12 of the boys were detained at 12.30pm while the other at 3pm on Thursday (April 28).
"Police are recording their statement,” he said.
ACP Shariman said five of the suspects were from the same class as the victim while the remaining were from other classes.
A video clip showing the victim being assaulted has gone viral on social media.
In the 25-second video clip, the victim can be seen arguing with one of the students before he was attacked by others, causing him to fall.
The attackers then rained punches and kicks on the victim as he lay on the ground.
The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
