TANGKAK: The recent clash between Johor PKR vice-chairman S. Gopalakrishnan and Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman would not hamper seat negotiations between the two parties says state PKR chairman Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh.

       He said that there is still space for discussion to continue between the two parties.

       "The incident has happened and I have also had a meeting with Syed Saddiq. So, I see that there is no problem to be resolved anymore.

       "It has not affected discussions (on seat negotiations). That is still ongoing," he said.

       He added that there is no use in lashing out over the matter as it was something that could be discussed.

       He said this after attending DAP's announcement of its fourth candidate for the Johor state election.

       On Saturday (Feb 5), Syed Saddiq, through his Facebook page, had uploaded several pictures of him meeting with the Indian community in Ulu Tiram.

       He had claimed the Indian community complained to him that the leadership in the area did not care about the people’s welfare.

       Gopalakrishnan, who is also Tiram assemblyman, later fired back at Syed Saddiq and challenged him to back up his claims.

       He also said PKR via Pakatan Harapan and Muda were in talks about working together and seat negotiation for the upcoming Johor elections.

       "I will be waiting for Pakatan and PKR's official stand on this matter,” he said.

       The post on Syed Saddiq’s Facebook page was later deleted and replaced with an apology.

       "I admit that my visit to Ulu Tiram has undermined the task and responsibility that had been done by our assemblyman friend from PKR.

       "My visit was merely to meet with the people in Ulu Tiram as part of the process for me and Muda to learn more on what can be done to take care of the people.

       "And in the spirit of togetherness with my friends in PKR, I am sorry for the mistake that had been done,” he said.
