A 3-year-old girl was grazed in the face and a man was critically wounded during a shooting that ended in a car crash on the South Side Thursday evening.
Around 7:20 p.m., the man, 26, and the girl were in a vehicle in the first block of East 79th Street, according to Chicago police.

When they pulled up alongside another vehicle, someone inside pulled out a gun and opened fire. The vehicle carrying the man and girl hit a parked car, then came to a stop.
The man was shot in the face, and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, according to police.
A bullet grazed the girl’s head, and she was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in good condition, police said.
Detectives were investigating.
