GEORGE TOWN: To cheer up the frontliners, Calvin Aeria dressed up as a superhero to get his Covid-19 vaccination at Setia Spice Arena.

The 37-year-old hotelier said he decided to wear the suit to liven things up.

“I bought a Superman suit complete with the cape through an online platform. Luckily, there were quite a number of cooling fans and air-condition sets at the centre.

“As there is a zipper at the back of my suit, it was not a problem getting the vaccination done,” he said.

Calvin said as anticipated, the frontliners were excited to see him in the costume, adding that one of them actually shed tears of joy.

“She told me that there is still hope because ‘Superman’ is here. Many others came up to me for photo sessions and looked happy.

“It took me a lot of courage to wear the Superman suit as it could draw unnecessary attention. But I’m glad I did so,” he added.

Aeria said he was looking forward to bringing more joy during his second dose scheduled on Sept 15.

“I will be wearing a costume which I will make myself,” he said.

“I have also started wearing costumes during my evening runs in my neighbourhood just to add some colour to the gloomy atmosphere.”
