Sheffield houses were left "shaking" with terrified locals fearing a bomb explosion after hearing "3 very loud booms".

       Several people have been flocking to X to report what they believe are explosions in the small UK city.

       One wrote: "What the hell were those huge explosions in Sheffield just now?" Another replied: "Hillsborough heard 3 booms. Very, very loud."

       A third person posted: "Just been a series of huge explosions rocking Sheffield. While another X user commented: "Felt like a bomb went off in Oughtibridge. What was that? The whole house was shaking."

       However, despite locals' concern, the explosions appear to have been caused by the demolition of a large industrial building.

       Video footage taken from rural South Yorkshire shows four chimneys collapsing following a loud boom.

       An X user shared the clip on the social media platform, with the caption: "So this is what woke half of Sheffield up!!

       "A bit of warning next time lads.. please !".
