       KUWAIT CITY, May 15: Sheikha Suhaila Fahad Al-Malik Al-Sabah has been honored with the prestigious title of “United Nations Ambassador for Community Partnership” by the Regional Network for Social Responsibility. Recognized for her significant contributions to fostering partnership and social responsibility at both local and regional levels, Sheikha Suhaila expressed her gratitude for this distinction.

       The title was conferred upon Sheikha Suhaila by Professor Yousef Abdul Ghaffar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Regional Network for Social Responsibility, in a ceremony attended by prominent figures from Kuwait, the Gulf region, and the Arab world. Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Sheikha Suhaila emphasized her commitment to leveraging this honorary position to promote positive practices that enhance societal responsibility through collaboration with governmental, private, and non-governmental institutions.

       As the United Nations Ambassador for Community Partnership, Sheikha Suhaila’s responsibilities include fostering communication and cooperation among local communities, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and government agencies. She aims to raise awareness about the significance of community cooperation in achieving sustainable development goals and facilitating dialogue and understanding among diverse stakeholders.

       Moreover, the ambassador will support the establishment of effective partnerships across different sectors to address social and environmental challenges. This involves providing support for projects and initiatives aimed at improving living conditions, such as education, health, and environmental initiatives, while encouraging popular participation and dialogue to bolster sustainable development efforts.

       Sheikha Suhaila also highlighted the ambassador’s role in offering guidance to local governments, non-governmental organizations, and communities on strengthening partnerships and achieving social and environmental objectives. Beyond local initiatives, the ambassador aims to build bridges of communication and cooperation to foster global peace, stability, and sustainable development.

       The official investiture ceremony for Sheikha Suhaila took place during the Eighth Partnership and Social Responsibility Conference and Award for Islamic Financial Institutions and Banks in 2024. Hosted by Kuwait and held under the patronage of Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatouq, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Islamic Charitable Organization, the event underscored the significance of Sheikha Suhaila’s role in promoting social responsibility and sustainable development.

       Sheikha Suhaila Al-Sabah is renowned for her activism in community work and holds the esteemed position of an honorary member of the Arab Fund for Social Responsibility Research. Additionally, she serves as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies, a respected scientific journal published by Kuwait University.
