JOHOR BARU: Pontian MCA division chief Datuk Tee Siew Kiong has been told to attend an inquiry with the party’s disciplinary board over his criticisms related to the recent Johor polls.

Tee said he is ready to face any action from the party that follows the inquiry, expected to take place via a video conference at noon Friday (April 22).

“I received the letter of inquiry following a press conference I called on Feb 25, where I explained myself to my supporters and voters over the reason why I was not fielded as a candidate in the March 12 election.

“I am confident that I am not in the wrong.

“Even though I was not fielded as a candidate then, it never stopped me from giving my full support to the Barisan Nasional candidates in Pontian throughout the campaigning period, which contributed to Barisan’s win,” he said in a press conference here on Thursday (April 21).

The former advisor to ex-Johor mentri besar Datuk Hasni Mohamad, added that he was not sure of what will happen after this but he would attend the inquiry to find out.

The letter of inquiry dated April 6 was sent to Tee by MCA’s disciplinary board for criticising the national leadership and issuing false remarks in his Facebook Live session.

The letter read that the inquiry was to hear Tee’s clarification over the matter.

Tee was the Pulai Sebatang assemblyman for three terms from 2004 until 2018.

In GE14, he lost the seat to Muhammad Taqiuddin Cheman from Parti Amanah Negara who got a 3,395 majority.
