A WOMAN was killed after being hit by an ambulance in a leafy Cheshire village.
The pedestrian was fatally struck by the emergency vehicle shortly after 10pm on Wednesday on the A540 in Mollington.

She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene after the horror crash.
No other injuries related to the incident were reported.
It is believed the ambulance was not responding to an emergency call at the time of the collision in the rural village.
Police have now launched an investigation into the devastating smash and have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
No further information regarding the woman has yet been released by cops.
A statement from Cheshire Constabulary said: "Shortly after 10pm on Wednesday 16 March police were called to reports of a collision on the A540, Parkgate Road, in Mollington.
"Officers attended to the scene and found that there had been a collision between a female pedestrian and an ambulance.

"Sadly the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no reports of any other injuries.
