Three people pulled alive from the rubble after 3-storey building collapses

A three-story building has collapsed in Torre del Greco, in the province of Naples, southern Italy.

So far, three people have been rescued alive from the rubble, and they are all in the hospital with injuries to various parts of their bodies.

Firefighters and Carabinieri (a military police force in Italy) are working at the scene.

Usar teams, specialists in searching and rescuing people trapped in rubble, have also been deployed.

Two elderly women are reportedly trapped in their homes, blocked by the debris that has obstructed several alleys in the city centere.

Firefighters are working to enable the women, who did not suffer any consequences from the collapse, to leave their houses.

At the moment, rescue teams are still digging through the rubble, but based on the checks conducted so far, there are no reports of missing people.

The building is located in the heart of the Vesuvian town, between Vico Pizzo and Corso Umberto, and it was occupied.

Traffic has been blocked in a wide perimeter around the collapse area.

"Here the buildings are very old, but this one, in particular, had issues, it was known," residents of the historic centre said of a predicted disaster.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is "monitoring the rescue operations of the people involved in the collapse in Torre del Greco. She has spoken on the phone with the fire department commander and is constantly updated," according to sources from Palazzo Chigi.
