It has been reported that the 95-year-old monarch didn't miss out as she was video-called by grandchildren Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis on the day. She was also visited by Prince Charles and Camilla and, according to The Sun, the monarch hosted 20 family members in all.

They include the Duke of York and his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, and five of her great-grandchildren.

This year, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spent Christmas at their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, with George, Charlotte and Louis.

Prince William and Kate were also joined by some members of the Middleton family, which included the Duchess' parents, Carole and Michael Middleton.

Royal Insider claimed that they were still thinking of the Queen during the day.

They reported: "Like little ones across the country, on Christmas morning the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's three children couldn't resist a super early start, and were reportedly awake at 5am to check out what Santa had left for them.

"Due to the Queen staying at Windsor, the family didn't attend the usual royal get together, and instead, Catherine cooked a traditional Christmas roast for lunch.

"While the family couldn't join together with the Queen as normal, the Cambridges reportedly took part in a video call to comfort Her Majesty, as well as chatting with Prince Charles and several other royal relatives.

"The Cambridges were still sticking to one royal tradition, as William and Kate were spotted taking their kids to church on Christmas morning.

"The group piled into the family car after the church service at St Mary Magdalene church on the Queen's Sandringham estate.

"The Cambridge children were spotted nestled in the back seat as they peered out of the windows."

One family member was not able to spend Christmas with the Royal Family.

It was confirmed that Princess Anne's husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, had tested positive for COVID-19 in the days leading to Christmas.

He is understood to be isolating at the couple's Gloucestershire home, Gatcombe Park.
