       D.C. police on Wednesday said they arrested a 46-year man in connection with a July killing in Northeast Washington.

       Christopher Tyler, of Northeast, has been charged with first-degree murder while armed in the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Nolan Edwards. The shooting occurred about 3:50 p.m. on July 7 in the 4100 block of Ames Street NE.

       An attorney for Tyler was not listed in court records.

       The latest D.C. police data shows homicides up by 36 percent compared with the same time last year, putting the District on track for its deadliest year in decades.
