JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Johor dropped from 705 people from 206 families at 8am to 636 people from 186 families at 4pm on Thursday (Jan 13).
Johor health and environment committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said the affected districts are Muar with 321 victims, followed by Segamat with 303 and Tangkak with 12.
“The ongoing sunny weather has contributed to the decrease in the number of evacuees at temporary relief centres where 69 people from 20 families have been allowed to return home,” he said in a statement.
He added that the centre with the highest number of victims is Balairaya Kampung Jawa which is sheltering 138 people from 40 families in Kampung Jawa Lenga.
“Only one road – Jalan Felda Bukit Aping – still remains closed to all vehicles due to landslides,” he added.
