       THE husband of celebrity Heliza Helmi, businessman Datuk Seri Mahadi Badrul Zaman (pic), says he made his first million ringgit when he was in his 20s, reported Kosmo! Ahad.

       The owner of AUF MBZ Consortium said he started his business as soon as he graduated from Universiti Teknologi Mara in Actuarial Science.

       “At that time in 2004, I aimed to make more money than the prime minister of Malaysia, although that may sound funny.

       “Alhamdullilah, in the second month after involving myself in a business based on finance and investments, I managed to garner RM30,000.

       “Unexpectedly in the same year in December, I managed to make RM1mil and this in turn made me more enthusiastic to work harder to successfully create a business empire that I could be proud of,” he said.

       The high-profile couple got married on Jan 1. Their solemnisation ceremony took place at Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, Putrajaya, and Heliza received a gold ring and a copy of the Quran as dowry.

       Mahadi is also a motoring enthusiast. He made headlines in 2017 with his Jaguar decorated with 4,600 Hot Wheels toy cars.

       Heliza, from Kuala Terengganu, was discovered in reality talent show Akademi Fantasia 5 in 2007, where she finished fourth.

       She has starred in two films, Syurga Cinta (2009) directed by Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri, and Bukan Cinta Malaikat (2017) directed by Aziz M. Osman.

       Asked about his signature long, rebonded beard, he said he started to keep it when he was 25 years old.

       “It is true that I use the rebonding technique to keep it tidy as I am always meeting people. In fact, I rebond my beard every day,” he said.

       Rebonding is a technique of straightening hair using powerful chemicals.

       Siti Sarah died just days after giving birth to her fourth child in August last year. She was 36.
