PETALING JAYA: Congratulations Lee Zii Jia, your victory has made us proud, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

       In a Facebook post on Sunday (May 1), the Transport Minister congratulated Zii Jia for his win over Indonesia's Jonatan Christie at the Asia Badminton Championships in Manila.

       "Your victory as the nation's top singles player makes us all proud," he said.

       Earlier, the national No. 1 men's singles shuttler captured his first title as an independent player after defeating Christie in the final.

       The Malaysian, who is ranked seventh in the world standings, played a superb match and managed to maintain his composure in the second set to triumph 21-17, 23-21 over the in-form Christie.
