IPOH: The Ipoh High Court has extended an interim injunction preventing the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) from entering the land belonging to four farmers in Kanthan near here.
Ipoh High Court judicial commissioner Su Tiang Joo told PKNP to obey the court order and not enter the farmers' land until Sept 5.
Su also instructed the farmers' lawyer, Rabinder Singh, to name the PKNP officers involved so a notice of the injunction can be served on them.
When met outside the courtroom, Rabinder said the interim injunction granted by the High Court on June 7 expired on June 21.
"The High Court extended the injunction, prohibiting any officers, workers or agents of PKNP from entering the land of the four plaintiffs.
"The plaintiffs can now go back to their land and start planting crops again," he said, adding that the land there was still fertile.
The farmers had filed a suit against PKNP in May.
The state and PKNP were said to have offered the farmers new plots of land for nominal rent in exchange for the land currently occupied by them.
In December last year, PKNP issued eviction notices to the farmers.
Rabinder said he hoped that the injunction could be further extended until a trial starts.
"We also hope that there will be a trial so justice can be meted out," he said.
