The most dangerous areas in Britain have been revealed with the top ranking city reporting more than 150,000 crimes in just one year.

       According to new research by Online Marketing Surgery, Birmingham is the UK’s most dangerous city with 152,697 crimes reported in 2023.

       The city saw 40,000 more incidents than any other city in the country making up just under half of all crimes reported to West Midlands Police.

       The company analysed Office for National Statistics data to find the top five cities which had seen the most crimes reported, while also noting that the UK had seen a 4% rise in crimes reported during 2023 when compared to the previous year.

       Second in the table was Leeds with 111,144 cases, making up 36.2% of West Yorkshire’s total reported crimes.

       In third was Manchester with 99,397 cases reported, but it made up just over a quarter of Greater Manchester Police’s total crimes.

       While being the capital city and the UK city with the highest population, London came behind three other cities in the country with 89,760 cases but the data only covered incidents which had been reported within the boundaries of Westminster.

       When looking at police forces with the most crimes reported the Metropolitan Police tops the table with 907,285, about treble that of second-placed Greater Manchester Police.

       In fifth place was Bradford, with a total of 74,980 crimes reported in the last year.

       Rutland, Maldon and the Ribble Valley were found to be among the safest places to live in the UK.
