KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia continued its upward momentum in early trade Friday lifted by gains including Genting Bhd, Genting Malaysia and Tenaga Nasional.

       The FBM KLCI added 1.48 points to 1,517.90 at 9.04am. The key index opened 0.22 of-a-point higher at 1,516.64.

       Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.55%, to 35,950.56. The S&P 500 rose 0.62% to 4,725.79 and closed at a record. The Nasdaq Composite gained 0.85% to 15,653.37.

       TA Securities said the broader market should stay range bound in muted trade, while evident window-dressing interest prop up the index ahead of the Christmas break.

       “Immediate index resistance will be at 1,520, with 1,550, then 1,580 and 1,600 as tougher upside hurdles ahead.

       “Immediate support is revised upwards to 1,500, followed by the recent low of 1,475, while key chart supports are at 1,470 and 1,452, the 50% Fibonacci Retracement (FR) matching the Nov 2020 low,” it said.

       Aeon Credit rose 40 sen to RM13.70, Hong Seng added six sen to RM2.83, Genting gained five sen to RM4.65, Genting Malaysia climbed three sen to RM2.87 and Tenaga added four sen to RM9.30.

       Sam Engineering fell 18 sen to RM21.38, Advanced Packaging lost 12 sen to RM2.56, Dutch Lady declined 10 sen to RM33.30 and F&N shed 10 sen to RM25.
