KUALA LUMPUR: Red Notices for fugitives Nicky Liow and Low Taek Jho - who is better known as Jho Low (pic) - have yet to appear on Interpol, says Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani
He said that the police had already made Red Notice applications for both men.
"I have been told however that the notice has not appeared. Maybe this is due to certain reasons that I am also not clear about," he told reporters after his walkabout at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on Sunday (Dec 12).
He said he would get the Federal CID director to explain the situation.
"From my understanding, there are certain protocols that need to be complied with in order for the Red Notice to appear," he said.
It was reported in April that Interpol had approved a Red Notice to locate and detain Datuk Seri Nicky Liow and his 31-year-old Chinese national wife, Liu Zhe.
An Interpol Red Notice is a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and detain persons of interest.
It is issued by the organisation's general secretariat following a request of a member country or an international tribunal.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had requested for Interpol to issue a Red Notice for fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, Jho Low, who was linked to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal.
