KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has tightened its standard operating procedures for Hari Raya Aidiladha following a spike in cases on Saturday (July 17).

State Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said that the new standard operating procedures (SOPs) are to limit the movement of people in an effort to curb the further spread of the virus during the celebration.

He said visits to cemetries, open houses, social or family gatherings would not be allowed for the Aidiladha celebrations, adding that all mosques and suraus can only allow a maximum of 30 people for prayers and other related activities.

Masidi said in a statement on Saturday that in the case of mosques and suraus, only a third of its maximum capacity to a limit of 30 people were allowed.

He also said that only 15 people would be allowed for animal sacrifices.

Additionally, no celebrations would be allowed in areas under an enhanced movement control order.

Sabah recorded 647 positive cases, doubling its figures on Friday (July 16).
