JOHOR BARU: The new Midvalley South Key vaccination centre (PPV) here is expected to be able to vaccinate 5,000 people a day that would help speed up the vaccination rate in Johor.

       Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said that the Midvalley South Key PPV is the first mega PPV that operates inside a shopping centre in the state that was made possible with the collaborative effort of the Health Ministry, the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry and the KPJ Healthcare Bhd.

       “This is the first integrated mega PPV in Johor that began its operation on Monday (July 19). It will be open from 8am until 9pm every day.

       “It has the capacity to vaccinate 5,000 people per day at its full capacity that will surely help push our target of having 80% of Johoreans getting their vaccine,” he said in a statement here Monday (July 19).

       Hasni also said that the state has already reached the capacity of giving out 50,000 to 60,000 vaccine doses per day.

       “The Midvalley South Key PPV will help in terms of helping people get their vaccine as soon as possible so that we could achieve the target of having 80% out of 2.5 million Johoreans vaccinated by October this year.

       “This move is crucial to achieve herd immunity,” he added.

       He also said that he is thankful for all the help provided by the volunteers involved in running the PPVs across the country.

       “The general public is in awe of every volunteer involved who has spent time and energy to help the state and country in the vaccination programme,” he added.

       A total of 238 medical officers and staff members from seven KPJ hospitals are involved in the vaccination programme at the Midvalley South Key PPV.

       The programme is also assisted by volunteers from the Malaysia Vaccine Support Volunteers (MyVac).
