PETALING JAYA: A total of 67 people were detained for drug-related offences in an operation in Lembah Subang here.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the operation, which was conducted at 11pm on Friday (Nov 5), involved 163 police personnel, National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) and Rela.
"The police arrested 45 people aged between 25 and 50.
"We also seized an array of drugs including 1.7g of heroin, 1.2g of syabu and 2.75 Yaba pills," he said on Saturday (Nov 6).
The AADK detained 19 men and three women aged between 20 and 50, he added.
"All suspects tested positive for drugs," he said.
ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin said this was the first time the "Ops Jihad Dadah" joint operation was conducted in the district.
"The operation aims to nab drug addicts and pushers in the district and prevent the emergence of new addicts by raising awareness.
"Lembah Subang was chosen as we have received many complaints on drug addicts in the area," he said.
He said between January and October this year, the police have seized 81.03g of syabu, 21.07g of heroin, 0.3g of ganja and 10 litres of ketum water in Lembah Subang,.
"59 people were arrested during the same period.
"We hope members of the public can cooperate by supplying relevant information on crimes, especially drug-related ones," he said.
