MELAKA: Shop owners along Jalan Hang Tuah say their premises are being obscured and businesses affected by the Ramandan bazaar there.

Abdul Razak Ali, 70, said the tents placed along the street had blocked the facade of their buildings,

"We are also hoping for brisk sales during this Ramadan but the front views of our shops are blocked by these tents.

"There is also not enough parking after all the available spaces were occupied by the bazaar operators," he said in an interview on Tuesday (April 5).

Another trader Syeikh Abdul Aziz, 72, wanted the layout for the bazaar to be changed so that customers are able to see the products displayed at the shops.

"I am also selling traditional Hari-Raya attire and it’s unfair for me if my shop’s view is obscured by the tents," he said.

Syeikh Abdul said most of the shop owners along the street have been doing business for the past four decades.

"Hopefully the authorities look into our predicaments," he said.

Meanwhile, representative from the bazaar’s organiser Mohd Fikri Mohd Ali said he will hold a discussion with the shop owners along the street to look into an amicable solution.
