KOTA KINABALU: A huge crocodile which has been recently sighted at a river in Kampung Takuli, Beaufort, 90km south of here, has been captured.
The reptile, nearly 3m in length, was caught in a trap set up by Wildlife Rescue Unit rangers on Monday.
According to the unit’s Facebook page, the trap was set up on July 9 after villagers reported sighting it in the area.
They told wildlife officials that they had seen the crocodile several times and were concerned about their safety.
The trap was then set up at a strategic location.
On Monday, villager Henry Jonik Jacob informed wildlife officials that the reptile had been trapped.
Wildlife officials later brought the crocodile to the Wildlife Rescue Centre in Potuki, not far from here.
