GRIME rapper Wiley has taunted the police telling them "don't come looking for me" in a video while he's wanted over an assault charge.

       A warrant has been issued for the 42-year-old rapper's arrest after he didn't turn up to London's Thames Magistrates Court - but he told police directly that he's "going to have a drink" before "handing himself in".

       But in a clip seen by The Sun Online, Wiley addressed the cops directly: "The police, listen, me to you.

       "Don't come and get me, don't look for me.

       "I'll go down there. I'm going to have a drink, then I'll go down there.

       "Don't come looking for me, you haven't got to.

       "Alright? That's a nice little message."

       The Met Police confirmed that he has not yet been arrested.

       On Monday he was due to answer charges of assault by beating and burglary of a dwelling with intent to cause damage in wake of the incident on August 28.

       The artist is accused of allegedly breaking into the home of former world kickboxing champion Ali Jacko as he relaxed with friends, before smashing plates and assaulting him.

       A friend of 53-year-old Mr Jacko called police after a row allegedly erupted in the flat in Forest Gate, East London.

       The self-proclaimed 'Godfather of Grime' is said to have used Mr Jacko's recording studio before the Covid pandemic.

       District Judge Ross Johnson issued a "warrant not backed for bail" for Wiley - real name Richard Cowie Jr - to be arrested and produced in court.

       Cowie, who earned an MBE in 2018 for services to music, represented himself at an earlier hearing two weeks ago.

       He was granted more time to apply for legal aid and speak to his lawyers in relation to the allegations.

       District Judge Ross Johnson granted his request for an adjournment and gave him conditional bail ahead of the next hearing at the same court later this month.

       The Met Police said: "A court warrant has been issued for the arrest of Richard Cowie, 42, of Tower Hamlets, who failed to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court on Monday, 27 September.

       "Cowie had been due to appear having been bailed at a hearing at the same court earlier this month.

       "He is charged with one count of assault by beating and a further count of burglary with intent to cause damage.

       "The charges relate to an incident in Romford Road, Forest Gate on Saturday, 28 August."

       The Sun Online contacted Wiley's record label for comment.
