BATU PAHAT: Three men have been arrested after they were suspected of being involved in a syndicate selling diesel illegally here.

       General Operations Force (GOF) Battalion 5 commanding officer Supt Dimin Awang said the suspects, aged 24 to 54, were arrested in a raid at Jalan Lorong 5, Taman Beroleh at around 11.30pm Wednesday (May 11).

       "We found 55,200 litres of subsidised diesel valued at around RM118,250 at the premises, along with nine pumps, 11 plastic hoses, two 1,000-litre tanks and four other tanks with capacities ranging from 16,000 to 20,000 litres.

       "There was also a tanker lorry parked outside.

       "We believe the suspects have been supplying subsidised diesel without a permit to various customers in Batu Pahat," he said on Friday (May 13), adding that investigations are ongoing.

       The suspects and seized items were handed over to the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry for further investigations under the Controlled Items Act 1961.

       Supt Dimin urged the public to assist the authorities in combating illegal activities by channelling such information to the GOF hotline at 07-755 7280 or Johor police hotline at 07-221 2999.
