A shocking picture of the charred tumble dryer was released by Aylesbury Fire Station with a warning to check lint build-up in machines.
Poor maintenance can result lint building up and blocking vents, which can get hot while the appliance is in use and catch fire.
It's recommended that you clean the lint out of your tumble dryer after each use with towels reportedly producing the most.
Fire services are urging homeowners to check their drawers daily, as a build up is one of the most common causes of household fires.
