KOTA KINABALU: Sindumin assemblyman Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob (pic) has denied trying to lure other Parti Warisan Sabah assemblymen to quit the party.
The former Warisan information chief, who is now an independent assemblyman supporting the state government, said he does not have the financial capacity to “buy” over anyone’s support and does not see the benefit of doing so.
The assemblyman said as a leader, one should not be emotional, but instead act and work professionally.
“I do not want to fight with anyone. We are still friends because there is no eternal enemy in politics,” Dr Yusof said in a statement on Sunday (Oct 17).
He said this in response to claims by certain Warisan leaders and members that he had allegedly offered RM1mil to each person to leave the party.
Meanwhile, Dr Yusof denied claims that he had quit as Sindumin assemblyman following his Oct 8 decision to ditch Warisan.
He said all that the claim was an undated pre-signed resignation letter as part of the party’s requirement for candidates contesting in last year’s snap Sabah polls.
“I am still the assemblyman and am not planning to resign,” he said when contacted.
He said he had handed over a letter informing the state Speaker of his intention to withdraw the undated letter of resignation on Oct 11.
“I’ll just wait for the decision from the Speaker on this,” he said.
