Richard Tice has said the Tories are "still in the pocket of the EU" during a Brexit showdown on the Jeremy Vine Show. Tice was appearing as a guest on the show where panellists were debating whether Brexit had been a mistake, prompting the Reform UK leader to say he believed it should have gone better blaming "the incompetence of this government".
He accused the government of "suddenly adopting a whole load of EU regulations without even discussing it" which he said "showed what this government it about".
When asked whether he believed people regretted the Brexit vote in 2016, Tice said he felt people were more disappointed with the government's delivery of it.
He said: "I think that it's a great opportunity, I think the vast majority of people who voted Brexit don't regret the vote, what they regret is the incompetence of the government to do the job properly.

"The point is if you're going to do a job, do it properly, we trusted the Tories to do the job properly and fundamentally they haven't."
He was debating the subject with political broadcaster Jemma Forte, who said a lot of people had voted for Brexit because they thought money being paid to the EU was going into the NHS which she called "a complete lie".
She went on to say that Bloomberg, Reuters, the OBI, IMF and Goldman Sachs "all admit that Brexit is a fundamental disaster".
During the programme a number of Brexit voters also called in to give their opinion on whether they felt Brexit had gone well or not.

In response to her call Tice attempted to reassure Pat that leaving was the right decision.
He replied: "It's a great opportunity, but the government hasn't done what they said they were going to do.
"They haven't reduced taxes, they haven't cut unnecessary regulations, they haven't taken advantage and they haven't taken control of our borders so that we can grow wages for British people."
