Returning from his winter break on Wednesday, the Duke of Cambridge hosted an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle during which the members of the royal family present medals to those who have awarded honors in person. The photos shared by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on their Instagram account left the royal fans elated with many of them calling him the “future king”.

An Instagram user, Iam_imperfect, wrote: “A king in the making. Bravo, William.”

Another user, Huguettegilbert, replied: “Bravo future king william”

A third Instagram account, holder_pullanpunches, wrote: “They’re getting him ready! And congrats to everyone.”

Looking sharp in his military uniform, Prince William handed out awards to a number of citizens being recognized for their achievements and service, including a number of sporting greats.

Prince William, 39, even used a sword to award a knighthood to Clive Lloyd, who played for, captained and managed the West Indies Cricket team.

The awards were presented to fashion designer Sir Paul Smith, Sir Clive Lloyd and Derrick Evans, better known as Mr Motivator.

Sir Paul, who opened his first clothes shop in Nottingham in 1970, has been made a member of the Order of the Companions of Honour.

The Order of the Companions of Honour is sometimes regarded as the junior honour to the Order of Merit and is made up of the sovereign, plus no more than 65 members, who may use the letters CH after their names.

Sir Clive Lloyd was knighted for services to cricket, while TV fitness instructor Derrick Evans was made an MBE for services to health and fitness.

However, many fans also raised questions over none of them wearing a mask during the ceremony.

An Instagram user, Sbscohen, simply wrote: “Masks?”

Another user, Kwazzy6, echoed a similar sentiment and asked: “No masks?”

The Royal member came back to work after celebrating his wife Kate’s 40th birthday this weekend.

While the Duchess of Cambridge did not throw a grand birthday party this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is believed that the couple will hold a joint celebration in June when the Duke of Cambridge also turns 40.
