MALAYSIAN singer Rynn Lim (pic) has been ferrying his parents and other relatives to be vaccinated at various centres in Kuching, reported Sin Chew Daily.

“I’ve always been positive about vaccines. Since coming back to Kuching, I’ve been to vaccination centres a total of six times, having ferried my parents and my aunts and uncles.

“The oldest one was my aunt who is 92. Everyone is well (after being vaccinated),” he said.

The 42-year-old from Sarawak said that even though his parents continue to receive a barrage of vaccine misinformation, he was able to convince them to inoculate.

“I’m lucky that I majored in microbiology at university. I have some knowledge of viruses and vaccines, and explained the possible side effects and that it meant their bodies are building up immunity against the virus.

“This helped ease their worries,” he added.

Lim, who completed his second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on July 4 on the same day as his mother, said that he only experienced a sore arm and dizziness.

Since returning home to Kuching for more than two months, Lim has taken on the responsibility of doing shopping for the family.

“I don’t want my mum to go out, hence I had to learn to do grocery shopping.

Lim debuted as a singer in 2005 and has acted in TV dramas in Malaysia, Singapore, China and Taiwan.

He is best known for the song Melodi, a duet with “Queen of Jazz”, Sheila Majid.

       Oriental Daily reported.

According to social worker Peter Chen, when he went on patrol, he noticed that some families who had hung white flags received donations from several different parties in a single day.

“Some of these families received several bags of rice. Apart from instant noodles, they also kept several hundred eggs, which is enough to last them a few months.

“However, many of these food items are perishable and can’t actually be kept for long,” he said.

Chen urged those who require help to not hoard food and to allow resources to be shared with others who are also in need.
