A Wetherspoon was suddenly closed on Thursday after a person died inside the pub. This happened at the West Qyay Wetherspoon on Brighton Marina.

       Speaking about the closure, a witness told The Argus that customers were evacuated from the building by staff members. They also claimed to have seen police speaking to people on the ground floor of the venue. The cause of the closure was confirmed by the pub giant itself, with a spokesperson saying: "Unfortunately we have had a death in the pub.

       "The paramedics tried to save him however were unsuccessful.

       "Due to the circumstances it was very stressful on the team, the pub is closed, the team looked after and sent home.

       "The plan is to re-open once the evening team come on to shift in an hour or two’s time."

       A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: "Emergency services were called to reports of a man in cardiac arrest at Brighton Marina around 2.45pm on Thursday (March 6).

       "Sadly, despite the best efforts of paramedics, a man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.

       "His next of kin have been informed and there are believed to be no suspicious circumstances."
