PUTRAJAYA: Cabinet ministers have begun arriving at the Perdana Putra building on Wednesday (Aug 4).
Among the first to arrive are Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun and National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohd Sadique.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin arrived at 12.11pm.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was seen arriving at 11.53am.
However it is not known if the ministers are there for the Cabinet meeting or if they are there to listen to his special address to be televised shortly.
If the meeting is actually held, this will be the first time that the Cabinet will be meeting physically after months of holding virtual meetings due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The meeting will be without the presence of three ministers.
Umno’s Datuk Seri Shamsul Anuar Nasarah resigned from his Cabinet post as Energy and Natural Resources Minister on Tuesday.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan is in hospital due to heart ailment.
Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican is with the Malaysian team competing in the Tokyo Olympics.
On Tuesday, 11 lawmakers from Umno had retracted their support for the Perikatan Nasional government and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Prime Minister and statutory declarations from them had been presented to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
