KUCHING: Claiming that he was unlawfully arrested, Parti Bumi Kenyalang president Voon Lee Shan has lodged a police report against the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over an incident on Sunday (Dec 12).
“I still cannot fully recover (from the shock) until today,” he said after lodging a report at the Sungai Maong police station on Tuesday (Dec 14).
Voon, who is a PBK candidate for Batu Lintang claimed that he felt intimidated throughout the ordeal.
Voon said was grilled for four hours there over the RM3,000 pledge contained in the party manifesto themed “PBK Passport to Prosperity, Freedom and Independence”.
On Sunday, Voon was stopped by four MACC officers as he was driving to Kenyalang Park and was ordered to head to the state MACC office.
The anti-graft agency later confirmed that it had called the PBK president into office not to be arrested but to have his statement recorded to assist with investigations.
"MACC authorities in Kuching had tried several times to contact Voon but failed. On Dec 12, MACC traced and met him in the Kenyalang Park area,” said the Commission.
"MACC authorities explained to him that he needed to go to the MACC office to assist in investigations," it added.
The commission also said Voon was served with a notice to appear and cooperate with MACC as required under Section 30(1)(a) of the MACC Act.
