The Princess was joined by her brothers Princes George and Louis, as the royal youngsters interviewed the famous environmentalist via video last August. Each child was given the chance to put a question to Sir David, who responded enthusiastically to his royal inquisitors. When it was Charlotte's turn, she asked: "Hello, David Attenborough!

       "I like spiders, do you like spiders too?"

       The famous environmentalist enthused: "I love spiders, I’m so glad you like them!

       “I think they’re wonderful things. Why is it that people are so frightened of them?"

       Sir David answered his own question, suggesting it was because spiders have eight legs and run in all directions.

       However, he told Charlotte that spiders were so clever and then asked her whether she had ever watched one spin a web.

       "That is extraordinary," he said.

       "How does it make this sort of circular web like that, attached to trees on either side or bits of vegetation?

       "How do they do it? Try and watch how they do it. It's marvellous!"

       Prince George asked Sir David which animal he thought would become extinct next, to which he hoped none would.

       He went on to outline ways in which the general public can help preserve wildlife and stop animals from going extinct.

       The environmentalist also revealed to Prince Louis that his favourite animals were monkeys.

       Despite initially being a sceptic, Sir David has become a leading campaigner on climate change.

       At a UN Security Council meeting in February, he warned that unless urgent action is taken to tackle climate change, the world risks worsening conflict, displacement and insecurity.
